Hope For The Disaffected Young Man

You have probably noticed that we are growing up in a culture that does not appreciate masculine virtues. Naturally, young men trying to grow into mature manhood feel isolated and underappreciated.

As a result, many influencers are gaining popularity by giving young men a community in which masculine virtues are supported and encouraged. Think of guys like Jordan Peterson, Hamza, etc.

However, in this journey towards disciplining yourself into your masculinity, you ought to ask yourself, "Why is this virtue masculine while the other is feminine?" Why are there distinctions between the sexes?

An evolution-based answer to this question will leave you wanting for something less animalistic and meaningless.  

You are a man because God made you a man. He created mankind male and female. He is the One who made masculine virtues and feminine virtues. God designed men to behave a certain way, and women to behave another way.

While our culture is frantically trying to claw away any distinction between men and women, nothing can change our nature. You still want to be a masculine man. And women still want to be feminine women.

This is why there are so many people trying to recover what it actually means to be a man or a woman. However, God is the starting point for truly recovering our sexual distinctions.

You were created to have a relationship with your Creator–who made you male. His name is Jesus Christ, the perfect Man. The pinnacle of all masculine virtue and virility. A carpenter's Son and the Son of God. A sword-tongued opponent of the corrupt elite, and a man of mercy to the oppressed.

Far from most modern "sissifed" conceptions of Him, He is the perfect model of masculine piety and virtue.

But when He came to earth 2,000 years ago, He did not come to destroy His enemies. He came to save them. Through our sins, we have rebelled against Christ and have made Him our enemy. We have rejected Him, mocked Him, and pretended He doesn't exist.

However, Christ died so that His enemies may be made His friends. Christ died so that fatherless, porn-addicted, undisciplined, weak, helpless sinners like you and I may be given a Father, an Older Brother, a King, Priest, and a Friend.

Do you want hope? Pray to Christ, confess your sins, and trust in His saving death on the cross. Do this, and He will reconcile you to Himself. He will bring you into the fellowship and discipline of our heavenly Father. He will begin you on the painful journey of being conformed to His image. To the image of the perfect Man.

"And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ."

Ephesians 4:11–15.

Join a church and sit under the teaching of God's word. Buy a Bible and read it. Find masculine Christian men to learn from. Do this and tell your friends.
