Walk In The Ancient Paths

Over the past couple of decades, there has been a resurgence of right Christian belief. This could rightly be attributed to what many have called the "young, restless, and reformed" (YRR) movement.

God working through men like John Piper, Matt Chandler, John Macarthur, R.C. Sproul, and others led many evangelicals to seek out wisdom from the Puritans and Reformers. This has led many to see and ask for the ancient paths. While many of us adopted the theology of the reformers and Puritans, it has scarcely given us the same spirit of courage and piety.

Many teachers and disciples of the YRR movement have waffled when it comes to cultural issues like Covid, LGBTQIAXYZ+, gender roles, and Christian Nationalism.

While right Christian belief has exploded in the last two decades, right Christian practice is being seen in fewer and fewer places.

We love the theology of Luther, but we would never be as courageous as he was. We love the theology of the Puritans, but we would never discipline our lives, families, and cultures in the same way they did.

We have done a fair share of seeing and asking for the ancient paths, but there is still something in us that says "We will not walk in it".

"We will not do the hard thing. We will not rock the boat." As a result, the church has lost the majority of the credibility that she once had. Like salt that has lost its taste, we are being trampled underfoot by the world.

The broken and weary among us have turned to blind spiritual guides like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate rather than the church.

It is not too late, however. No matter how dead the faith of America may seem, we serve a God who resurrects the dead. If the church would rise up and walk in the ancient paths, we will find rest for our souls, and our generations will be blessed.

The world will see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. We shall be like a glorious city on a hill. We shall regain our taste and influence.

God is not calling us to go back to the sensibilities and customs of an ancient century. God is calling us to walk in the ancient faith that was coursing through the patriarchs, prophets, judges, kings, apostles, reformers, and Puritans. For by this faith, the people of old received their commendation.

Let us not be those who spend much time gazing at those ancient paths in admiration, but be as those who say, "We will not walk in it".

Ancient Paths Publishing exists to create and distribute content that inspires the church, families, and individuals to walk in the ancient paths.

"Thus says the Lord,
“Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths,
Where the good way is, and walk in it;
And you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’"

Jeremiah 6:16
